4:54 PM Old Men Racing Ten Speeders

On Sunday I scooted out to Ojai to grab some shots of the Amgen Masters Team in the Ventura Stage Race. I shot the team headshots and group photos back in January- but hadn't seen the team in action yet.

For a bunch of old guys they throw it down. Most of them were wearing some sort of leaders jersey. This threw me off a bit and so I missed the main guy I wanted to grab some shots of. However I did get some great pics. I'm really digging this one of Tom Doughty.

I was getting bored of some of the standard angles so I found myself a nice ditch and hid out. I spooked a few guys in the process- nothing like to bright flashes right in your eyes as your getting out of the saddle to put on some hurt!

Technical geekdom:

135mm 1/250th @ F4.5 ISO 50 One Qflash with bare reflector in front left of camera at handlebar level and full power. Another Qflash on an ultrapod ground level at 1/2 power. the sun is hitting him pretty hard on the back. The sun was pretty high and light and shadows pretty harsh so I was killing as much ambient light as possible, and using the flash to light it up.

Enjoy!
