6:23 PM 1st post of the year

I took a bit of a break from the blog at the end of the holiday and into the New Year. Some of it was because I was busy updating all the pics on my site, part of it was due to planning for the next year, and some of it was figuring out what I’m going to do with this blog, and lastly a bunch of the stuff I’ve been shooting isn’t ready for public consumption yet.
Be sure to click on Portfolio’s and Projects on the links above. Most of the pics are from this year. The slideshow on my home page is all new as well. Rather than recycling old pictures I decided to run with only pictures from 2009. Maybe it’s a mistake maybe not. If I get nostalgic I’ll throw some older ones back up.
What to do with the Blog? Still haven’t figured it out. It’s a picture blog for now with some rambling. There are tons of blogs similar to mine out there, but I guess mine is the only one with the ability to have a real inside look Giant. At the same time it’s my blog so I can throw some curve balls as well if I want. Since the coolest bike related things I’ve shot in the past 2 weeks need to be under wraps for a few I’ll throw some swimming from my kids this weekend. Enjoy.

9:27 AM Winter Invite Las Vegas

I skipped the US National Cyclocross Championships in Bend that are going on right now to watch my kids swim at the Winter Age Group Championships Swim Meet in Vegas. While it would be great to be in Bend to see and shoot all the action I'm not missing the freezing temps.

It's cold here in Vegas but I get to escape that by sitting in the sauna that this indoor pool has become. As an added bonus there are a around a thousand screaming kids going every direction and my youngest son has decided it's a fine place to walk around shirtless (not a BL reference.)

I like shooting swimming because it's a whole different game than what I'm normally shooting. The outdoor meets are pretty much second nature. Indoor it's a whole new ball game. Dark, blue, crowded. As soon as I saw what I was working with I decided I would not go for my typical swim photos to save for when the kids are older or the wife to scrapbook.

For the shot of my daughter below I broke into the coaches area and mounted a strobe, sent my youngest to go crash a "Lego Party," and pushed my lens to view the pool in between the legs of another spectator. My wife hates the slow shutter shutter speed stuff. I love it.
