10:24 AM The Making of Composite Bikes

Back in November I made the pilgrimage to "The Rock." At least that's what I call Taiwan. Reality is it really isn't a rock it's more like a very active pile of sand and dirt where the majority of the worlds bikes are made.

I traveled with a co-worker and Joe Lindsey as the photographer to document the making of composite bicycles. I'd say it was a "pretty big deal." They don't let any Tom, Dick and Harry into the secret "C-Tech" facility let alone a journalist or photographer with thousands of dollars in gear. We were doing the math and I think only 2 other photogs have been allowed in the facility. No one had ever been given the access that I had or took.

I could have spent a week in there- it's incredible to watch the process. Coverage from that trip is just now making print (April 2010 Issue Mountain bike) and web.

Sorry about the poor quality scans- all the more reason to get to your local newsstand and buy a copy of the rag.
