1:01 PM Images of Competition 2010

1:10 PM Latest Shimano XTR Ad

Adam

Sometimes photos sit around for awhile before they get used. The latest XTR ad is from the 2009 US Championships in Granby. I'd file this one under pleasant surprises... Adam Craig powering up the steepest part of the climb near the start finish area.

12:42 PM Crankworx Giant Giant Slalom Commercials

With Giant being the Title Sponsor of the Giant Giant Slalom at Crankworx I had the opportunity to create a couple commercials to be shown during the event. I've been fiddling with video and editing since the beginning of this year and this was the biggest audience of anything I've done with it so far.

The first video is b-roll footage provided by Anthill Films (Thanks guys!) I re-arranged it and made some gratuitous color adjustments, Jeremy Combs provided the music:

Giant It Takes Faith from JPOV on Vimeo.

The second video begins with b-roll of Kurt Sorge from the Anthill Films crew and then moves into a series of images I have taken over the past 6-8 months. Music is by Jeremy Combs again. Edit's done by me:

Giant Maestro from JPOV on Vimeo.

8:45 AM New Fox Ad

Pretty stoked on this one. Taken in the woods of Santa Cruz at mid-day with a lot of light power hanging on the side of a very wet poison oak infested hill.

8:44 AM USGP Portland

Last weekend I made it up to Portland for the finals of the USGP Cyclocross Series in Portland. The goal of shooting there was photos of the Giant Team racing in mud. It never seems to work out exactly as planned though and the sure bet of mud at a cross race in Portland in December proved there are no sure bets.

Instead it was cold and dry. I took it all in stride though and got some great shots. Some are over on the Giant Facebook Fan Page and more will show up later. Below I have two shots from the weekend.

First up is a late race charge from Amy Dombroski. I'm not one to point my camera at the a$$ of racers but as the last lap of the ladies came through my gut told me to do it and in this case it worked out pretty well. She is absolutely going for it, pushing so hard the rear wheel is coming off the ground as she's running up a steep hill. how steep is that hill? Well that other photo nerd that snuck in my frame (curses) has his foot wedged in the dirt so he doesn't fall. She ended up 9 seconds back from first.

Next Shot is Adam Craig. On day two of racing he made a late charge moving up a few places to take fourth. It was a valiant effort considering the amount of hair he has flowing out of his helmet. I'll go ahead and say it- he was the first finisher with a visor- that's gotta count for something! After the race he was asking one of the officials how many places deep the podium was and I heard one of my favorites "what color do you get for fourth?" Not dogging on AC- but America would be a better place if the podium only went three deep starting in preschool.
